Float Homes – New Home Trend
For coastal communities, like Nanaimo, “harbour living” will soon have a new meaning. Floating homes are an emerging household trend for many BC communities, with many unique benefits that no home on land can offer.
Nanaimo has always been considered “The Harbour City” due to its proximity to the Strait of Georgia/Salish Sea, and it’s central location on Vancouver Island. In the future, however, Nanaimo-ites will also be able to live right on the water, in a floating home! Gone are the days of mowing your lawn and hard landscaping plans, owning a float home gives you a low maintenance exterior space, with a spot to park your boat or kayak, right outside your front door.
Dreaming of this new waterfront living option, we turned to Pinterest to find some options so we could start building our own float home…in our fantasies for now anyway.
